Awutu Senya East NDC Chairman denies receiving GH¢41m 24-Hour Economy contract

The Awutu Senya East Constituency Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Stephen Ofosu Agyare, has denied claims that his construction firm has been awarded a contract worth GH¢41 million.

The denial follows comments by the NDC Central Regional Chairman, Richard Kofi Asiedu, who, during a television interview, alleged that Agyare had been awarded a contract to construct a 24-Hour Economy Market project in Mankessim.

Responding to the allegation, Awutu Senya East NDC Constituency Organiser Daniel Takyi Mensah, who also serves as spokesperson for Agyare, described the claim as false and misleading.

According to him, the contract in question was awarded to Brison Construction Company Limited and not to any company owned by Agyare.

Mensah further alleged that the comments by the regional chairman were intended to create disaffection against the constituency chairman amid ongoing internal disagreements within the party.

“Yesterday, we heard an unfortunate statement from the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, making a wild allegation that Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare has been awarded a contract worth GH¢41 million for one of the 24-hour economy markets being constructed in Mankessim,” he said.

“The statement was very unfortunate. As the PRO and Head of Marketing for Agyare Real Estate and Construction, I can state categorically that we have not received any contract of that nature.

“Chairman Stephen Ofosu Agyare, in his capacity as the NDC Constituency Chairman for Awutu Senya East, has also not received any contract of that amount.”

The latest development comes amid tensions within the Central Regional branch of the NDC, with party officials publicly trading accusations over alleged contracts and internal party matters.
