The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) has arrested 10 suspected drug offenders following an intelligence-led operation targeting alleged drug trafficking and substance abuse hotspots across Cape Coast in the Central Region.
According to a statement issued by the Commission, the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to disrupt illicit drug activities and improve public safety in communities identified as high-risk areas. The coordinated exercise covered Pedu, Victoria Road, the University of Cape Coast (UCC) enclave, Downtown Cape Coast and several other strategic locations.
NACOC said its officers carried out simultaneous raids at the identified locations, resulting in the arrest of the 10 suspects. The operation also led to the seizure of items believed to be connected to illegal narcotics activities.
The Commission disclosed that the suspects, made up of both men and women aged between 24 and 55, are currently assisting with investigations. It added that the recovered exhibits will undergo further examination to support ongoing investigations into the suspected offences.
NACOC noted that the latest operation reflects its continued resolve to dismantle drug trafficking networks and curb the circulation of illicit substances in communities across the country.
The Commission further indicated that the suspects will be processed in accordance with the law after investigations are concluded.
It also appealed to the public to continue providing credible and timely information to support the fight against drug-related crimes, stressing that public cooperation remains vital in tackling the illegal narcotics trade nationwide.
