Transparency International Ghana is warning that corruption is becoming normalised among young people, with practices such as exam cheating and election rigging taking root in schools.

Speaking at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Transparency International Ghana and Honour Ghana, Executive Director Mary Awelana Addah said the trend underscores the urgent need for values-based education to rebuild ethics and integrity among the youth.

“The youth believe in acquiring wealth without knowing the source, and nobody is questioning anyone. Young people are increasingly becoming complicit in this.

“We are seeing corruption in our schools, elections being rigged, and students going into examination halls prepared to cheat. Research shows there is a huge gap when it comes to ethics among young people. That is why values-based education has become more important than ever,” she said.

The goal of the MOU is to reach 100 schools and 20,000 students with values-based education.
