A massive fire has engulfed a Melcom warehouse within the Tema Free Zones Enclave, with firefighters battling to bring the blaze under control.

According to a statement on Facebook by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), a major response has been deployed to the scene, with fire crews drawn from the Tema and Greater Accra Regions working to contain the inferno.

In all, about 10 fire engines are on site, actively engaged in efforts to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading to nearby facilities within the enclave.

Water tankers from nearby local assemblies have also been deployed to reinforce firefighting operations as thick smoke and flames continue to rise from the warehouse.

So far, no injuries or fatalities have been reported as emergency responders continue their efforts at the scene.

The cause of the fire is yet to be established.

Authorities are expected to provide further updates as the situation develops.
