The Management of the Greater Accra Regional Hospital (Ridge) has dismissed a viral social media post alleging negligence in the death of a patient, describing it as misleading and inaccurate.

In a statement signed by the Head of Public Relations, Juliana Haruna, the Hospital said the post circulating with the caption “Folks, last night I lost my wife at Ridge Hospital” relates to a case involving a patient who died six years ago.

It explained that the matter had previously been investigated and resolved in collaboration with relevant state authorities, which found no evidence of wrong or inappropriate medication.

The Hospital noted that the allegations circulating on social media, including claims that nurses were laughing during the incident, are unrelated to the case in question.

It further stated that an autopsy was conducted at the Police Hospital at the request of a coroner as part of the earlier investigations.

Ridge Hospital urged the public to disregard the post, warning that such misinformation could cause distress to the bereaved family and unfairly damage the reputation of staff and the facility.

It also cautioned bloggers and social media users against sharing unverified claims, urging the public to rely on official channels for clarification and complaints.

The Hospital reaffirmed its commitment to providing compassionate, timely and quality healthcare services.
