Food scientist and convener of the Agribusiness Launchpad and Accelerator Programme, Dr. Mavis Owureku-Asare, has encouraged small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the agribusiness sector to take advantage of the programme to grow, expand their markets and access expert support.
The initiative, she said, is designed to support both emerging entrepreneurs with business ideas and existing agribusinesses seeking to scale up their operations.
Speaking ahead of the second edition of the Agribusiness Launchpad and Accelerator Programme on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on July 20, Dr. Owureku-Asare said the programme provides a platform for businesses to receive the necessary guidance, mentorship and resources to accelerate growth.
According to her, the initiative is open to individuals with business ideas, start-ups and established companies looking to explore new markets, improve their products and find better financial solutions.
“If you have a business idea, you are already in it, you’ve just started, and you really want to take off or leapfrog, this is the programme for you,” she said.
Dr. Owureku-Asare explained that participants will benefit from training sessions covering key areas including food processing, value addition, regulatory compliance, quality assurance, business development, brand positioning, marketing and access to finance.
The programme, she added, will also create opportunities for entrepreneurs to network with industry experts and connect with institutions that can provide tailored solutions to support their businesses.
“It’s really a rich experience. You have an idea, come and let’s talk about it, let’s help you figure it out. You already are in the business, but you want to grow, this is the programme for you,” she stated.
The second edition of the Agribusiness Launchpad and Accelerator Programme will be held from August 5 to 7 at the Absa Head Office in Ridge, Accra, as a three-day intensive capacity-building programme for agribusiness entrepreneurs.
The initiative is supported by partners including Absa Bank, which serves as the main partner, alongside other sponsors and industry players.
