Upper East Regional Minister Donatus Akamugri Atanga has called on Channel One TV and Citi FM to leverage their national reach to advocate for greater investment and development support for Northern Ghana.

Speaking on the final day of the 2026 Northern Business Fair, Atanga commended the media organisations for creating a platform that showcases the region’s economic potential, saying the initiative has significantly boosted the visibility of businesses and opportunities in Northern Ghana.

He noted that sustained promotion is essential to unlocking the region’s development prospects, stressing that meaningful growth depends on effectively marketing the North’s resources, investment opportunities and entrepreneurial potential.

The Regional Minister also praised Channel One TV for consistently highlighting issues affecting Northern Ghana, recalling the station’s earlier engagement with the region during its caravan initiative, which he said helped project his development agenda to a wider audience.

Mr. Atanga urged the media organisations to maintain their focus on underserved regions, arguing that their impact would be more profound in areas that continue to face developmental challenges than in already developed urban centres.

According to him, directing attention to the northern sector demonstrates a commitment to balanced national development and gives communities in the area a stronger platform to attract support.

“We are very grateful to Channel One TV for the exposure given to the North and for providing us with this platform. If you want to succeed, you have to market what you have. You have the voice, and we believe Channel One TV can help advocate to donors and development partners to support the Northern sector in achieving its development objectives. We will rely on you as our advocacy agency,” he said.

The 2026 Northern Business Fair was powered by Channel One TV with support from Citi FM. The event was sponsored by Ecobank, the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA), and Northshore Apparel Ghana Ltd.
