300K GES teachers get Laptops under One Teacher – One Laptop policy

The company responsible for supplying and distributing laptop computers to teachers under the government’s One Teacher – One Laptop programme, KA Technologies has announced the successful completion of the initiative.

300, 000 teachers working under the Ghana Education Service (GES) benefitted from this programme, which aims to digitalize teaching and enhance research among educators.

A statement issued by the company over the weekend said, “We are pleased to announce the successful completion of the nationwide supply, training and subsequent distribution of Computer Laptops to qualified teachers (Kindergarten, Primary, Junior and Senior High Schools), teachers on-study leave and non-teaching Staff under the Ghana Education Service (GES)”.

The company also highlighted the establishment of 24/7 Aftercare Centers across the country, ensuring continuous customer and technical support for teachers.

“Our user-friendly Katcare App allows the booking of repair services and the purchase of Laptop accessories. Teachers may also call toll-free line 0800790555 to report any complaints or enquiries”, the statement added.

The company expressed gratitude to the teacher unions; the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), the National Association of Graduate Teachers (NAGRAT) and the Coalition of Concerned Teachers (CCT), stakeholders, the government, the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service and the regulatory institutions for working to ensure a successful execution.

“As a local firm, we are indeed gratified to have contributed towards the delivery of digital-aided advancement in teaching in Ghana and remain committed to leapfrogging technology to transform all sectors of the Ghanaian economy”, the statement concluded.
