The National Peace Council (NPC) has extended an urgent invitation to the leadership of Ghana’s two major political parties, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for a high-level dialogue ahead of the upcoming by-election in Akwatia.
In a letter dated August 30, 2025, the NPC, through its Executive Secretary Dr. George Amoh, requested a joint meeting with both parties to be held in Akwatia on Monday, September 1, 2025, at 2 PM.
The dialogue forms part of the Council’s ongoing efforts to promote peace and political tolerance, especially in light of the heightened interest surrounding the Akwatia by-election. The meeting follows earlier engagements with the NDC and NPP on July 29 and 30, respectively.
“In fulfilment of our pledge to engage you ahead of the Akwatia by-elections, the Board respectfully requests a short meeting with the leadership of both the NDC and NPP,” the letter stated.
Copies of the correspondence were also sent to the chairpersons of both parties, as well as the Chairman of the National Peace Council.
