The 2025/2026 academic year ended on a positive note for pupils of the Klagon TWMA KG and Primary School, following a donation of sanitary pads and assorted educational materials by a non-governmental organisation, the Spicy Ladies Club.

The donation formed part of activities marking the first anniversary of the club and included school bags, books, sanitary pads, and assorted drinks. The gesture reflects the group’s commitment to supporting education and welfare within the community, where most of its members reside.

The exercise also falls under a broader project initiated by the NGO to promote reading among pupils in basic schools and improve their overall academic performance.
Speaking during a brief presentation ceremony at the school, President of the Spicy Ladies Club, Martina Boateng, explained that the initiative was aimed at empowering female pupils while easing the burden on underprivileged students and their parents ahead of the next academic year.

She noted that providing books and other learning materials was intended to support pupils in achieving higher academic excellence. Madam Boateng further disclosed that the NGO is actively involved in women’s empowerment and community development initiatives.

“We realised these pupils face a lot of challenges, so we decided to help them in our own small way,” she said.
Commending the initiative, the Chief of Klagon, Nii Bortey Klan I, praised the Spicy Ladies Club for its commitment to the welfare and well-being of children in the community and pledged his support for the group’s future projects.

The Head Pastor of Christ Jubilee Centre, Reverend Nicholas Yeboah, who was also present, lauded the organisation’s gesture, describing it as reflective of the teachings of Jesus Christ and in line with the spirit of the Christmas season.
Meanwhile, the Headmistress of Klagon TWMA KG and Primary School, Patricia Boadi, expressed appreciation to the NGO, noting that the support would contribute significantly to improving pupils’ academic performance.

The Spicy Ladies Club has therefore appealed to individuals, corporate bodies, and philanthropists to support its efforts to reach more schoolchildren in deprived communities across the country.
