Interior Minister Mohammed Muntaka Mubarak has commissioned a number of utility vehicles for the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to enhance mobility, strengthen emergency response, and improve operational efficiency across the country.

The vehicles commissioned included two Toyota Hiace mini buses, four Nissan Navara pick-up vehicles, and one Toyota Camry saloon car procured by the government for the Service.

A Honda motorbike donated to the GNFS was also presented during the ceremony.

Speaking at the event, the Interior Minister said the commissioning forms part of the government’s commitment to strengthening the operational capacity of the Ghana National Fire Service in the discharge of its mandate to protect lives, property, and critical national infrastructure.

Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak reaffirmed the government’s dedication to improving logistics and the welfare of personnel within the service as part of broader efforts to build a more capable, efficient, and responsive emergency service.

He further disclosed that processes are far advanced for the procurement of 100 fire engines and other rescue equipment to support fire operations nationwide.

The Minister commended the leadership and personnel of the service for their dedication, professionalism, and sacrifice, and urged them to ensure the proper maintenance and responsible use of the vehicles for the benefit of the Ghanaian public.

Chief Fire Officer Daniella Mawusi Ntow Sapong expressed appreciation to the government for its continuous support and reaffirmed the Service’s commitment to efficiency, professionalism, and the responsible use and maintenance of the vehicles.
