Report your alleged Facebook hack for investigation — Sam George challenges Afenyo-Markin

The Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has challenged the Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, to formally report what he claims is the compromise of his Facebook account to the relevant authorities for investigation.

The call follows a controversial post that appeared on the Minority Leader’s official Facebook page on Tuesday, June 2, in which the account questioned the passage of the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, 2025.

The post sparked widespread political discussion and public debate, particularly given the sensitivity surrounding the legislation.

Concerns were raised about whether the post genuinely originated from Afenyo-Markin or whether his social media account had been compromised by unknown individuals.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Channel One TV on Saturday, June 6, Sam George urged the Minority Leader to take formal steps by petitioning the Cyber Security Authority to trigger an official investigation into the alleged incident.

“I throw an open challenge to Alexander Afenyo-Markin. The comment he made that his account was compromised, the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana is willing to support him to run an investigation and we will be able to determine if truly his account was compromised or if he made that post.

“If he truly believes that his account was compromised, he should file a formal complaint with us and we will carry out an investigation to identify where the compromise came from and make sure that they face the true rigours of the law but if that account was not compromised, he will not be able to file that complaint.”
