The Kit Up Ghana Foundation has successfully launched its official pilot phase, delivering a transformative intervention aimed at revitalising grassroots education and youth development through sports.
In partnership with Lexbert Clothing Ltd., the foundation donated approximately 100 sets of premium, locally manufactured multi-sport kits to pupils of Kokomlemle 1 & 2 Basic School and Junior High School in Accra.
The initiative, designed to address material deprivation in public schools, has already yielded measurable impact. School authorities report a significant increase in daily attendance, improved student morale, heightened self-confidence among pupils, and renewed enthusiasm from parents and the wider community.
At the heart of Kit Up Ghana Foundation’s work lies a clear institutional philosophy: that no child’s potential should be limited by lack of access to basic sporting resources. The organisation is guided by a bold vision; to create a Ghana where every public-school child, regardless of socioeconomic background, enjoys equal access to quality sports infrastructure, a strong school identity, and opportunities to develop athletic excellence.
Its mission is equally ambitious: to systematically transform grassroots school sports across the country by providing high-quality, locally manufactured sportswear and durable athletic equipment to underserved schools, while also promoting school attendance, boosting youth confidence, creating employment through local textile partnerships, and connecting talent to global opportunities through transparent tracking systems.
Donation to Kokomlemle Basic & JHS School
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Lexbert Multimedia Ltd., Mr. Hubert Anokye, highlighted the deep-rooted challenges facing public school pupils. He noted that thousands of children attend school daily without access to proper sports kits, leading to stigma, reduced self-esteem, and limited opportunities for talent development. He emphasised that this intervention is not just about clothing, but about restoring dignity, encouraging participation, and unlocking potential.

5,000 deprived Schools to benefit
The foundation has set an ambitious long-term target to manufacture and distribute complete premium sports kits and professional athletic equipment to over 5,000 deprived public Basic and Junior High Schools across Ghana, with a strong focus on underserved communities.
Kit Up Ghana Foundation operates on four core values:
Inclusivity & Equity: Ensuring equal access to sports resources for all students, regardless of gender or economic background. Pride & Community Identity: Restoring dignity and fostering a sense of belonging among pupils and their schools. Accountability & Transparency: Maintaining strict oversight of donor funds through clear reporting and audit systems and Domestic Industrial Growth: Promoting local manufacturing by partnering exclusively with Ghanaian producers, thereby creating sustainable employment opportunities.
Receiving the donation on behalf of the school, Assistant Headmaster of Kokomlemle 1 Basic School, Mr. Joseph Kwaku Yeboah, expressed profound gratitude to Lexbert Multimedia Ghana Ltd. and the Kit Up Ghana Foundation. He noted that the intervention has brought renewed hope to students, making school more attractive and engaging. According to him, the availability of proper sports kits will not only boost enrolment but also help identify and nurture hidden athletic talents among pupils. He added that the initiative will improve discipline, teamwork, and overall student participation in school activities.
The Assembly Member for the Kokomlemle Electoral Area, Mr. Abu Moro, also commended the initiative on behalf of the community. He emphasised that such interventions play a crucial role in reducing child delinquency and school dropout rates. He further noted that empowering children through education and sports contributes significantly to building a responsible and productive society, ultimately driving community and national development.
The Kit Up Ghana Foundation’s pilot project stands as a compelling model for how targeted, locally driven solutions can create lasting impact in education and youth empowerment. With strong partnerships and a clear vision, the foundation is poised to scale its efforts nationwide, ensuring that every Ghanaian child has the opportunity to learn, play, and thrive with pride.
