The Madina Divisional Police Command has launched investigations into a shooting incident involving former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, at Kwabenya in the Greater Accra Region.
According to a statement issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service on Sunday, June 21, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred while the former legislator was visiting the residence of her late father in Kwabenya.
The police said Adwoa Safo sustained a gunshot injury to her left ear during the incident and subsequently reported the matter to the Kwabenya Police Station.
The former MP also presented a vehicle with registration number GN 3482-24 to the police, which reportedly showed visible gunshot damage and has become central to ongoing investigations.
The police confirmed that she has been issued a Police Medical Report Form and is currently receiving medical treatment.
As part of efforts to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident, investigators have retained the damaged vehicle for forensic examination. The exercise is expected to help determine the source of the gunfire and reconstruct the sequence of events.
The police added that investigations are ongoing to identify all persons connected to the incident and establish the full facts of the case.
