Ghana goalkeeper Benjamin Asare has urged Ghanaians to continue supporting the Black Stars after the team’s 2-1 defeat to Croatia in their final Group L match on Saturday, June 27, 2026, in Philadelphia.
Despite the loss, Ghana progressed to the Round of 32, where they will face Colombia on July 4.
Reacting to the result, Asare said the team had not intended to end the group stage with a defeat but remained focused on the knockout phase.
“It wasn’t our intention to lose this game. Anything can happen in football. We are focused on the next game, and we hope for a better outcome. All we are asking from Ghanaians is their prayers and continuous support,” he said.
The defeat ended Ghana’s Group L campaign, but the Black Stars advanced to the knockout stage and will now turn their attention to the crucial Round of 32 clash against Colombia.
The encounter will provide Ghana with an opportunity to bounce back from the setback against Croatia and continue its campaign in the tournament.
