No one is excluded, when it comes to the law, not even law enforcement officers are exempted from complying with the laws of the land.
It was no surprise that three men in uniform, a military officer, customs officer and police officer were arrested for indiscipline driving at the East Legon tunnel today, Friday.
Citi News‘ Caleb Kudah who was at the tunnel as part of Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline campaign said Colonel Ansu one of the officers arrested accused the traffic warden of not properly directing him.
The War Against Indiscipline is a campaign put together by Citi TV, with support from Citi FM and the Ghana Police Service to curb the indiscipline on the country’s roads.
The War Against Indiscipline was started by Citi TV in May 2019.
It has received massive support from the Ghana Police service.
The campaign is to avert the increasing loss of lives through road carnage due to recklessness and general disregard for traffic regulations.
The campaign is to draw attention to the nuisance caused by drivers and motorbike riders on Ghana’s roads.
Gov’t makes GHc258,000 from Citi TV’s War Against Indiscipline campaign
Citi TV‘s collaboration with the Ghana Police Service to clamp down on errant drivers through its War Against Indiscipline (WAI) campaign has accrued to the state over GH¢258,000.
The amount was realized from 499 drivers who were arrested for breaching traffic regulations on various roads in Accra.
A police statement said, “The exercise which started on 17th June 2019, has so far covered specific roads noted for reckless driving within and outside Accra to ensure sanity and safety. These roads include Spintex, Legon by-pass, Dawhenya, Pokuase-Amasaman, Kasoa-Weija, Adenta-Dodowa among others.”
