Ghana Health Service in the Bono East Region has started a free mass vaccination campaign targeting about 170,00 people between the ages of 10 to 60 years in the Techiman Municipality and Techiman North District.

The immunization campaign started on the 12th of November 2020 is scheduled to end on the 18th of November 2020.

Speaking to Citi News, the Bono East Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Adomako Boateng revealed that the two districts in the Bono East Region are part of 85 others in the country which the Ghana Health Service is conducting the campaign.

He urged everyone within the age margin to take part in the free exercise as it is the last of its kind.

“Everybody is supposed to come for this vaccination. It’s going to be voluntary, but as we are discussing, it’s very important because this is the last of the campaigns that we are having. And when you come, we will vaccinate you and give you the Yellow Card.”

Dr. Adomako also advised pregnant women, persons with immune challenges, such as cancer or HIV patients, and those with allergies to eggs and chicken products not to take part in the campaign.

The Bono East Health Director also stated that the COVID-19 protocols would be observed.

“We are going to ensure strict protocols for COVID-19. We are going to make sure we are in our masks, we are social distancing and all other preventive methods that we are supposed to engage so that we make sure we don’t spread COVID-19.”

Ghana Health Service is conducting this exercise in Health centres, hospitals, and other designated points in the Techiman Municipality and Techiman North District.
