Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC proudly partnered with the Ghana Union of Traders’ Association (GUTA) as the Platinum Sponsor of the recently concluded 2025 GUTA Forum held in Accra under the theme ‘Unity in Diversity: Fostering Collaboration for Effective Advocacy’ in Accra.

This collaboration reinforces Republic Bank’s commitment to supporting Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), a key pillar of the Bank’s five-year strategic plan, while further strengthening the long-standing and cherished relationship with GUTA.

Representing Republic Bank at the forum was the SME Unit, led by Mr. Anthony Buagbe, the Manager, who stood in for Mr. Benjamin Dzoboku, Managing Director of Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC. Mr. Buagbe emphasized the Bank’s dedication to fostering a stronger partnership with GUTA.

“Our cherished relationship with GUTA is one we deeply value, and we are committed to strengthening this bond to deliver impactful solutions for traders and SME businesses across Ghana,” Mr. Buagbe stated. He highlighted several key initiatives that reflect the Bank’s tailored approach to supporting GUTA members and the wider SME and MSME community.

Beyond financial support, Republic Bank pledged its commitment to empowering SMEs with non-financial resources to ensure their growth and sustainability.

These efforts include but are not limited to the Republic Bank recently launched “THRIVE” initiative in partnership with the Caribbean Export Development Agency, aimed at equipping traders with the knowledge and networks needed to succeed in a competitive market. “Our focus is not just on financing but also on offering holistic support that drives long-term success.

The THRIVE initiative has so far paved the way for over 500 SMEs in Ghana and the Caribbean to gain insights into how to make their businesses flourish,” Mr. Buagbe added.

Republic Bank’s diverse product portfolio is designed to address every aspect of an SME’s business needs, with the added flexibility of customized solutions that meets specific customer requirements. This customer-centric approach ensures that traders and businesses receive tailored support to overcome challenges and seize opportunities.

Speaking at the forum, Dr. Joseph Obeng, President of GUTA, commended Republic Bank for their support and commitment to the growth of businesses in Ghana. “Republic Bank has proven to be more than just a financial partner—it has become a true enabler of growth for our members.

Through their support, innovative financial solutions, and commitment to the business community, many of our traders and entrepreneurs have been able to expand their operations and explore new markets. We are especially proud of the fruitful collaborations that have given rise to initiatives like THRIVE, bridging Ghana and the Caribbean and opening exciting frontiers for trade and development,” Dr. Joseph Obeng indicated.

The Platinum Sponsorship of the 2025 GUTA Forum reaffirms Republic Bank’s role as a trusted partner to GUTA and the SME sector, building on years of collaboration to drive economic growth and prosperity in Ghana.

Both entities look forward to deepening this partnership and delivering even greater value to traders and businesses nationwide.
