The Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Emmanuel Tobbin, has appealed for calm in the constituency following violent clashes during the Homowo Festival.
The disturbances, sparked by a misunderstanding between supporters of two rival chiefs, escalated into gunfire that left three people dead and five others injured.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, September 1, 2025, Mr. Tobbin urged the police to arrest those responsible and ensure justice is served swiftly.
He also called on both factions to prioritize dialogue over violence.
“It was really uncalled for. Even if there were disagreements, we should have sat down to resolve them peacefully. Too many people have guns, and at the slightest provocation, they pull them. The police must take action,” he said.
The MP further appealed to the security agencies to bring the perpetrators to book and restore peace to the community.
