The Managing Director of Citi FM/Channel One TV, Samuel Attah-Mensah, has expressed profound gratitude to God after Citi 97.3 FM was named the Best English Radio Station at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards, held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Saturday, November 8, 2025.

The award recognises Citi FM’s outstanding contribution to quality journalism, ethical reporting, and impactful storytelling over the past year.

Speaking to Channel One News, Mr. Attah-Mensah described the recognition as a testament to God’s acknowledgement of good efforts and dedicated it to the staff of Citi FM/Channel One TV.

“Well, we’ll say to God be the glory. It’s a good story; we are happy because it could have been another story. Seeing where we have come from, seeing what we’ve been through in the last couple of years, we can only thank God and also thank the team, the staff from HR to Engineering to the newsroom, to programmes, to production, to the security.

He added, “Everyone has played a part, and this is just the testament of how God himself recognises good efforts. Indeed, we did not apply for anything, as you see, many of the awards are what people apply for. We have not applied for anything, but this is how the Ghana Journalist Association sees the efforts we put in. We thank the association, we thank President, Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, for his good effort, for his good job, and it’s a reflection of where we have come, how far we have come, and we can only say glory to God for this.”
Akwasi Agyei Annim, Western Regional Correspondent for Citi FM and Channel One TV, also won the ‘Best Science and Environment Reporting’ award.

Citi FM, which recently celebrated 21 years of “Relevant Radio, Always,” was commended for its consistent delivery of credible news, thought-provoking talk shows, and innovative public-interest programming that shapes national conversations and promotes accountability.

Organised annually, the GJA Awards honour media excellence and recognise individuals and organisations demonstrating professionalism, integrity, and public service. This year’s ceremony attracted prominent figures from government, the judiciary, civil society, traditional leadership, and the media fraternity, highlighting its national significance.

Citi FM’s latest accolade adds to its growing list of national and international honours, reaffirming its position as one of Ghana’s most trusted and respected media brands.
