The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has condemned recent attacks on its personnel while performing their professional duties, describing such incidents as deeply concerning and unacceptable.

In a press release on Saturday, February 21, 2026, GHS emphasised that mutual respect is fundamental to delivering high-quality service to clients and patients.

The service affirmed its support for staff who carry out their duties professionally and stated that any aggression, intimidation, or violence against them will not be tolerated.

Director-General Dr. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea noted that the GHS is committed to maintaining a safe and secure environment across its facilities. The Service pledged to work closely with security agencies to strengthen protective measures, ensuring the safety of both staff and patients.

“The safety of our team and those we serve remains our highest priority,” Dr. Akoriyea said. He reiterated that the GHS expects all staff to be treated with dignity and respect while performing their professional responsibilities.

The statement comes amid growing concerns over incidents targeting healthcare workers and underscores the Service’s commitment to upholding a secure environment within its facilities.
