The campaign manager for Mohammed Baba Jamal, the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso East, has accused the party’s Majority Caucus in Parliament of favouring Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late MP Mahama Naser Toure, during the recent primary.

Baba Alhaji Khalid told Citi News that several MPs had previously donated funds to Hajia Amina’s campaign to distribute to delegates, calling it “clearly meant to influence the election.” He questioned why the same MPs were now demanding investigations and the annulment of the results.

“We all know they sponsored a candidate with money for the election. For them to turn around and accuse someone else because their preferred candidate lost is unacceptable,” he said, adding that such actions threaten the integrity of the party’s democratic processes.

The NDC Majority Caucus had on February 8 called for the cancellation of the primary and the disqualification of any candidate found guilty of vote buying. Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga said such practices run counter to the party’s goal of restoring integrity to Ghanaian politics.

Mr Khalid, however, insisted that any allegations should be reviewed by the party’s internal committee, warning against selective targeting and double standards. He stressed that Baba Jamal’s team remains committed to following official procedures to resolve the matter.
