The British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E Christian Rogg, has underscored the need for Ghana to prioritise implementation as it rolls out its National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Strategy.

Speaking at the launch of the strategy in Accra on Friday, April 24, he indicated that while developing the framework is a significant milestone, the real impact will depend on how effectively it is executed.

“Today is a launch but we are also marking a transition from strategy development to implementation and from foundation to delivery. The real test that lies ahead is to build the institutions, the skills and the partnerships that are needed to apply the strategy,” he said.

Mr. Rogg also reaffirmed the United Kingdom’s commitment to supporting Ghana, noting that the partnership on AI forms part of a broader cooperation framework between the two countries.

“We are very proud to have gone in partnership with Ghana, providing expertise in the development of the strategy. This partnership on Artificial Intelligence is in fact just one strand of the UK-Ghana Science Technology and Innovation Memorandum of Understanding. The framework that we are using here is the strong foundation to do many other things. It is a framework that is rooted in respect, shared values and long-term partnership,” he stated.

Rogg’s remarks highlight a shift in focus from policy formulation to practical delivery, as Ghana moves to operationalise its AI ambitions.
