Agbodza defends late-night road inspection tours

The Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has explained why the Ministry’s road inspection tours sometimes extend late into the night, stressing that the team works to meet targets rather than being constrained by the time of day.

According to him, sunset should not be viewed as a reason to suspend work when contractors are operating around the clock on various road projects.

Speaking to the media in Saboba during a road inspection tour of the North East Region on Sunday, May 24, 2026, Mr. Agbodza said the Ministry remains committed to completing its daily inspection schedules, regardless of whether night falls during the exercise.

“Well, we work at night. We still eat at night and do everything at night, so sunset does not mean we should stop working,” he said.

“Some contractors are working at night while others work during the day, so we work to target. Until the target is achieved, sunset or sunrise is not a hindrance,” he added.

The Minister said the inspection teams are determined to complete their schedules each day to effectively monitor ongoing road projects and ensure contractors remain on track.

Mr. Agbodza has been leading inspection tours across parts of northern Ghana as part of government efforts to monitor road infrastructure projects and ensure timely delivery under its road development agenda.
