There is a quiet truth many grow to understand with time: when a mother is gone, something irreplaceable goes with her. Not just care or guidance, but a kind of steady presence that holds everything together, even in the most uncertain moments.

It is this deep, often unspoken impact that forms the heart of this year’s Mother’s Day commemoration, as stories of love, sacrifice, and forgiveness take centre stage.

In recognition of this, Channel One TV and Citi FM have launched a special initiative dubbed “An Episode with Mama”, a campaign designed not just to celebrate mothers but to tell their stories through the eyes of those they have raised.

The concept is simple, but deeply personal. Participants are invited to share moments that define their mothers, the sacrifices they made, the difficult choices they embraced, and even the things they chose to forgive.

These are not grand, distant narratives, but intimate reflections that reveal the everyday strength of motherhood and the lasting impressions it leaves behind.

Entries are to be submitted via WhatsApp (0539986996), capturing not only the story but the identity behind it, a name, a voice, a connection. It is an invitation to pause and reflect, to put into words what many often feel but rarely express: the weight of a mother’s love and the quiet resilience that sustains families.

Speaking on Breakfast Daily on Tuesday, May 5, Head of Programmes and Production at Channel One TV, Apiorkor Seyiram Ashong-Abbey, underscored the emotional depth the initiative is expected to evoke.

She noted that the stories may stir a range of emotions from joy to nostalgia, and even moments of sadness, but emphasised that the ultimate goal remains clear: to celebrate mothers in all their complexity and strength.

Selected entries will not only be featured but will also receive gifts for their mothers, adding a tangible layer of appreciation to the emotional tribute. The initiative is powered by Channel One TV and Citi FM, with sponsorship from GTP and support from Tekura.

Beyond the gifts and recognition, however, “An Episode with Mama” serves as a reminder that behind every story shared is a woman whose sacrifices may not always be visible, but whose impact is deeply felt. And in taking the time to tell these stories, a generation is not only celebrating its mothers, but preserving their legacy.

A participant in the An Episode with Mama Mother’s Day campaign has shared how his mother left a corporate job to raise five children, taking on multiple small businesses just to survive.
