The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has relaunched its “Setting the Records Straight” campaign, describing it as a strategic response to what it says is a growing spread of misinformation by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP).
The party said the initiative would be used to counter false narratives and protect public confidence in the government’s policies and programmes.
Speaking at the relaunch at the NDC headquarters in Accra on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the Deputy National Communications Officer, Arko Gunn, accused the opposition of engaging in a coordinated campaign aimed at eroding public trust in the government.
According to him, repeated misinformation by the NPP was gradually influencing public perception and required a direct political response.
“In a democracy, elections are not won by silence. They are won by trust and constant engagement,” he said.
Mr Gunn said the NDC government had, within 17 months, taken decisive measures to stabilise the economy, restore investor confidence, and implement people-centred policies.
“But governance alone is not enough. Communication is important,” he stated.
He stressed that the relaunch of the “Setting the Records Straight” platform was intended to ensure that government achievements and policies were effectively communicated to the public.
“Political misinformation requires political response, firm, direct, and unapologetic,” he added.
The “Setting the Records Straight” initiative was previously used by the NDC to address public concerns and respond to criticisms from political opponents.
