Former Sports Minister and Chairman of the La Mansaamo Kpee Development Association, Major (Rtd.) Amarkai Amarteifio, has urged young people to invest in developing their talents and acquiring relevant skills to remain competitive in an increasingly changing world.
He advised the youth to avoid lifestyles that could derail their future and instead take advantage of available opportunities to improve themselves.
Speaking to Citi News during the sod-cutting ceremony for the Association’s new office complex, Major (Rtd.) Amarteifio said the facility would serve as a hub to equip young people with emerging skills, particularly in artificial intelligence and information technology.
He said the initiative forms part of the Association’s long-standing commitment to supporting the development of young people in the La community.
“That is what we have been doing for the past 47 years, to help the young people in this community to develop their talent. They should take advantage of the opportunities that exist now in the system to improve themselves and make life worth living for them.
The future is going to be tough and competitive. It is already, and it is getting more competitive, but they have to survive. They can only survive if they equip themselves with adequate knowledge,” he said.
Major (Rtd.) Amarteifio stressed that continuous learning and skills development would be critical for young people to adapt to the demands of the future.
