Eric Twum, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, has expressed his disappointment in the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) for not using the unveiling of their running mate, Prof. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, as an opportunity to present their policy proposals.
According to Mr. Twum, the NDC has no new policies to offer Ghanaians based on their records.
During Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s official presentation on Wednesday, April 24, at the University of Professional Studies (UPSA), she expressed her loyalty to former President John Mahama, stating that she would not abandon him during difficult times and would not claim to have been merely a “driver’s mate.”
In response to Prof. Opoku-Agyemang’s remarks, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, the Director of Communications for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s Campaign, stated that the NDC running mate misinterpreted Dr. Bawumia’s “driver mate” comment, and thus, she is not a direct competitor of the NPP’s flagbearer.
Mr. Twum, in an interview on The Big Issue with Selorm Adonoo on Saturday, April 27, 2024, further commented on the situation, expressing disappointment at the NDC for not using the platform to launch their policies.
He said, “That is the confusion and the inconsistencies that come with the NDC as a political party. I was expecting that on that particular platform, they would have been used to present their policy positions.”
He also called on Ghanaians to retain the NPP for its positive impact.
