Titus Glover slams NDC over “Rambo-Style” arrest of Wontumi

Former Greater Accra Regional Minister, Titus Glover, has accused the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of launching a politically motivated and violent witch-hunt against the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, widely known as Chairman Wontumi.

His comments come in the wake of Wontumi’s arrest by officials from the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on Tuesday, May 27. The arrest occurred shortly after Wontumi had reported to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service in Accra, in line with his bail conditions.

The development triggered angry protests from NPP supporters and party leaders, who thronged EOCO’s premises, demanding the immediate release of their regional chairman.

Speaking to Channel One News’ Umaru Sanda Amadu at the scene, Titus Glover criticised the government for allegedly bypassing due process and detaining Wontumi without presenting any formal charges.

“If they have anything incriminating, they should prepare the charges and come and put it across, he will come out with his lawyers but not this Rambo-style,” he said.

Glover also accused the NDC government of using state institutions to intimidate political opponents, claiming that such actions have become a pattern since the party assumed office.

He insisted that the opposition will not be silenced by what he described as targeted and unjustified arrests aimed at weakening the NPP’s leadership.
