Some delegates in the Odododiodio Constituency have threatened to boycott voting in the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer primaries unless they receive their GH₵700 transportation allowance from the campaign team of presidential hopeful Dr Bryan Acheampong.
The group, numbering over 30, claim that two members of Acheampong’s campaign team have failed to release the funds, prompting them to seize the mobile device of one of the campaign officials.
One delegate expressed frustration at the delays, saying, “I came from Kasoa to this place to vote, just because of the love I have for Bryan, but the campaign team for Bryan have taken the money, and sat on it. We are telling Bryan that if he doesn’t win, he should blame his campaign team in Odododiodio.”
Others echoed similar concerns, insisting that their issue is not merely the unpaid allowance but the deliberate withholding of funds that had already been delivered.
“Our major problem is not even about not receiving the money, but the fact that the money has been delivered and someone has decided not to share.”
“I do not know why they have taken the money and decided not to share. I used my money for the transport fare to this place, so if I do not receive the GH₵700, I will not vote.”
