Baba Jamal Mohammed Ahmed, Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria and a contender in the National Democratic Congress parliamentary primary in Ayawaso East, says the outcome of Saturday’s vote will ultimately test the credibility of recent public commentary and projections about the race.
His comments come against the backdrop of projections by Mussa Dankwah, Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, who has forecast that Baba Jamal’s support in the primary is unlikely to exceed 38 percent.
According to Mr Dankwah, polling data and prevailing voter trends in the constituency point to Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament for Ayawaso East, Mahama Naser Toure, as the clear front-runner with an estimated 54 percent support.
Mr Dankwah explained that even under the most favourable conditions for Baba Jamal, the gap between the two leading contenders remains significant, making a late swing in voter preference unlikely. He added that the projection carries a margin of error of about 3.2 percent, which still places Hajia Amina Adam comfortably ahead.
Speaking briefly to journalists during the Ayawaso East parliamentary primary, Jamal declined to be drawn into debate over predictions about the election, insisting that the results would speak for themselves.
“Today’s results will determine the credibility of Mussa Dankwah. Today’s election. And I won’t say any further until after the election,” he stated.
