Some New Patriotic Party executives in the Mampong Constituency in the Ashanti Region are accusing leading members of the party of aiding the disruption of polling station elections that were held on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
The aggrieved executives said only 75 out of 145 polling station elections were held, while 70 polling stations remain unconducted.
According to them some of the electoral materials from the yet-to-be-conducted polling stations were seized by some thugs.
Addressing journalists in Mampong, the party’s Constituency Secretary, Alhaji Malik Adjei alleged an instance where a Regional Organiser hopeful for the party in the region, Dennis Kwakwa, took a megaphone from the Polling Station Election Committee at Daaho and announced that the election would only be allowed to proceed if every person in the polling station was allowed to vote.
He further claimed that the announcement led to disturbance and prevented voting from taking place.
He also alleged that one Richard Asare, and a parliamentary hopeful for the party in the Mampong Constituency, brought in thugs believed to be affiliated with the NDC to obstruct elections in some polling centres, including T.I. Ahmadiyya JHS.
He added that security personnel at the centre were not spared in the attack.
He further disclosed that a resolution team led by the Ashanti North Regional Police Commander held a meeting between the various factions. At the meeting, TEAM APICOM was requested to submit the names of any voter who complained that their name was not in the register.
The executives said they have submitted a report on the conduct of the elections to the party leadership and are calling on the Ghana Police Service to act to restore order and protect the integrity of the process.
“The process began on a positive note, but it was later reported that the first incident occurred at T.I. Ahmadiyya JHS, where our brother Richard Asare, also known as Apickom, allegedly led a group of thugs reportedly linked to the NDC to storm the venue. The group is said to have seized all electoral materials at the polling centre and fled with them,” he said.
